Gone are the days when we could trust juice sold in stores to be nutritious. Rather they’re filled with artificial sugars and the nutritious aspect is questionable.

Regular juicers kill off the essential nutrients our bodies need, the best masticating cold press juicers retain them all.

A masticating juicer features an auger which crushes the fruits and vegetables, separating the pulp and juice by slowly squeezing them.

Masticating Cold Press Juicer Reviews

Omega Juicers NC900HDC Masticating Dual-Stage Juicer at a Glance:

  • Warranty: 15 Years
  • Speed: 80 RPMs
  • Pressure Settings: 5
  • Noise Level: Quiet

While there are plenty of great models out there, the Omega NC900HDC is one of the most versatile. While it may take a bit longer to learn well, it’s definitely worth it!

5 adjustable pressure settings and varying nozzles means that you can use it for coffee grounds, sorbet, mincing, chopping, nut and soy milk, (obviously) juicing, and much more.

The dual-stage juice extraction process will also make sure you get every drop, leaving nothing to waste!

The build is heavy duty, much like the rest of the machine. As it’s made with ABS (BPA-free) plastic and chrome, you can be sure this will last you years. In fact, thanks to the 15-year warranty, that’s verifiably certain!

The 150-watt, 2HP motor is very strong, yet surprisingly quiet – rotating the auger at 80 RPM. To keep a steady and safe grasp on the machine, they’ve also thought to include a large grip handle on the top.

The downside to the design, is that it does take up quite a bit of counterspace. However, you can move it with ease if you need to.

Once you’re finished, cleanup is easy. Simply place detachable parts in the dishwasher on the top rack, and you’re all set. Is it any wonder why this is one of the best masticating juicers?

AICOK Slow Masticating Cold Press Juicer Juicer Extractor at a Glance:

  • Warranty: 3 Years
  • Speed: 80 RPMs
  • Pressure Settings: 1
  • Noise Level: Ultra-Quiet

We think that the 7-step worm spiral system could have had a more appetizing name placed on it, but the AICOK Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor does a fine job at giving you a complete juice.

So, what’s included in the 7 steps? Cut, break, squeeze, mill, separate, grind, and extract. Basically, it’s going to deliver all the nutrients that regular juicers won’t.

If you’re looking for one of the best slow juicers on a budget, there aren’t many to choose from. However, this model is quite affordable given how efficiently it operates.

With leafy greens and soft produce, it did well, but didn’t yield quite as much as some of those with higher price tags. The 80 RPM grinder leaves the vitamins, enzymes, and minerals exactly as they should be, though, perfectly separating pomace from the juice.

How loud is it when it’s being used? Less than 60 decibels, which is so quiet, even your kids (or pets) can sleep through it! With a 3-year warranty and low pricing, we’d say it’s definitely worth adding to your kitchen.

Our only minor complaint would be that cleanup is a bit messy and takes a few minutes, so prepare for that.

Tribest GSE-5050 Greenstar Cold Press Masticating Juicer at a Glance:

  • Warranty: 12 Years
  • Speed: 110 RPMs
  • Pressure Settings: 6
  • Noise Level: Average

One of the best juicer for greens, the Tribest GSE-5050 has everything you need to handle anything from stringy vegetables to tough fibers! As the brand is known in making sprouters, dehydrators, and blenders, you can rest assured they know their way around juicers.

We should mention that this 2-in-1 machine isn’t just a juicer – it also works as a food processor! This means you can make healthy juices, desserts, butters, and much more.

Stainless steel twin gears with little pocket recesses mimic they human mastication system, facilitating chopping up even the hardest veggies.

The 110 RPM speed is a bit faster than the previous two, but still considered very slow for minimal oxidation.

This, along with magnetic and bio ceramic technology gives you the highest-quality juices, greater yields, and rich flavor without dealing with clogging or jamming.

Due to the versatile pressure adjustment mechanism, you can change the amount of pressure needed for pulp ejection for smooth operation.

When that’s finished, pick how you’d like your juice or food. You get a fine screen for minimal pulp, a coarse screen for a bit of pulp, a homogenizing blank for food processing, and a breadstick maker set for breadsticks and rice cakes!

The only aspect we didn’t love, was that disassembly and assembly was a bit time-consuming, as well as cleaning the machine.

However, this didn’t change our opinion of it at all, as this was so minor. If you have any troubles, know you’re covered under their generous 12-year warranty!

Aicook Slow Masticating Juicer Machine at a Glance:

  • Warranty: 3 Years
  • Speed: 80 RPMs
  • Pressure Settings: 1
  • Noise Level: Quiet

Quite possibly the best wheatgrass juicer out there at this low of a price, the Aicook Slow Masticating Juicer is a favorite for those looking to save some bucks.

With a slow speed of just 80 RPM, it manages to cut through fruits and veggies with no problem. You’ll notice your juice has less froth, while keeping all important enzymes and vitamins. Try it out on celery, carrots, apples, leafy greens, and any other fibrous foods!

Aside from taste and health value, you obviously want to get the most out of your product. Once you see how dry the pulp comes out, you’ll realize this juicer produces surprisingly high yields.

Once you’re done, the one-touch disassemble button will make it easy to take apart for cleaning. As they’ve thought to include a little cleaning brush, the process is just a bit quicker.

However, the model wasn’t perfect in our eyes. While it undoubtedly works great for such an inexpensive product, it was probably the least durable on our guide.

In addition, the warranty only lasts for 3 years, where others last sometimes 5 times as long!

Mueller Austria Ultra Slow Cold Press Masticating at a Glance:

  • Warranty: 4 Years
  • Speed: 60 RPMs
  • Pressure Settings: 1
  • Noise Level: Average

While it wasn’t hands-down the best cold juicer out there, it is one of the best in terms of budget products. In fact, we had a hard time finding more than 2 machines out there under $100 that could come close to rivaling the Mueller Austria.

Despite what the name would suggest, the machine is engineered in Germany, built to hold up to some of the most rigorous professional-grade inspections.

The large feed chute comes in at around 3 inches, which means it easily takes in larger pieces of fruits and vegetables. This makes prep time much shorter, so you can focus on the rest of your day.

As the mechanism spins at a slow 60 RPMs, you get more juice with less foaming and clogging.

We did have a few complaints, though. Probably the biggest one, is the ease of cleaning. In fact, it took us a good 30 minutes to get everything completely clean where others on our guide took maybe a couple minutes, max.

Also, we noticed that if you use celery anything less than extremely crisp, it’s going to get all stringy and clog up the machine.

Tribest Slowstar Vertical Cold Press Masticating Juice Extractor at a Glance:

  • Warranty: 10 Years
  • Speed: 47 RPMs
  • Pressure Settings: 1
  • Noise Level: Quiet

The Tribest Slowstar Vertical Slow Juicer and Mincer has completely won us over, working as a 2-in-1 juicer and multi-purpose mincer/homogenizer. Make delicious juices for the morning, and salsas, butters, and sherbets in the evening!

With an incredibly low speed of 47 RPM (surpassed only by our next product), you get hardly any foam while preserving nutritional integrity.

The 200-watt motor is incredibly silent given its force, and its 3-stage speed reduction gears give the torque of a 9HP motor!

With that being said, we can say it’s the best juicer for carrots, beets, and other “hard” veggies and fruits. You’ll also find that due to this swift slicing and dicing, you’ll experience much less, if any, clogging.

While the price tag is a bit on the higher end, it is packed full of performance and sturdiness. Made of durable BPA-free Ultem plastic, it’s 8x tougher than those used in most cheaper products.

The parts which contact the juice are also all stain-resistant so said beets and carrots don’t tint it! Given the fact that the product comes with a nice 10-year warranty, the company has practically vouched for its durability itself.

Thanks to both the pulp wiping assembly to prevent pulp buildup on the sides, and the juice cap which eliminates drips, cleanup is super simple. Can you see why this is the best juicer for celery and other tough foods?

SKG Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor at a Glance:

  • Warranty: 2 Years
  • Speed: 43 RPMs
  • Pressure Settings: 1
  • Noise Level: Average

The SKG Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor is one of the best cold press juicers available on the market today. The low-speed, minimal oxidation machine delivers fresh, delicious, long-lasting juices that you’ll soon get addicted to.

Running at one of the lowest speeds we’ve seen, it preserves both natural flavors and nutrients incredibly well. The large, 3” wide chute easily accommodates large items, which means clogging doesn’t often happen and your prep and cleanup time is cut short.

In addition, your food items will have less chance of oxidation, which preserves the benefits of the food, which centrifugal juicers cannot do.

Cleaning is pretty easy, especially if you do it right after you’ve juiced. They even include a special brush for cleaning the basket quicker.

There are a couple things to note, however. One, is that if you don’t like a little pulp in yours, opt for another model.

This one includes a good amount, and while you can strain it out manually, you may not want to spend time doing it. In addition, it only has a 2-year warranty, which isn’t very long.

How to Choose the Best Masticating Cold Press Juicer

best juicer for greensIf you didn’t know much about masticating cold press juicers before, we’re betting you do now! So, have you selected which will be the best slow juicer for you and your household? If not, there’s no need to worry. That’s exactly why we’ve decided to write up the user-friendly buying guide below!

As you noticed, there are various speeds or “RPMs” on each model. Why speed is so important with these types of juicers, is because the lower the speed is, the better the results are.

A slow juicer is going to better retain all vitamins and enzymes, where centrifugal juicers cut out a lot of the good stuff. In addition, they tend to add more foam and pulp.

However, if you can change up the speed, this is even more handy. Slower speeds are more ideal for soft fruits like grapes, while higher speeds work well with beets, which are firmer. If you can, we recommend choosing a juicer that runs at 80 RPM or lower for best results.

What to Juice

What exactly will you be juicing? Don’t just expect each juicer to take in food the same way. Some are better at particular produce items than others.

For example, some work great on various kinds of fruits and vegetables, while others can give you butters and sauces like a food processor.

Feeding Chute

best slow juicers
Omega Juicers NC900HDC Juicer Extractor

The size of the chute on your new juicer can have a huge effect on your experience. First, if you have a larger one it’s going to cut down on your prep time, as you don’t have to cut the pieces of fruit/vegetables as tiny.

There’s also a lower chance of clogging and oxidation happening, leaving your juices fresher.

It’s important to look at the size of your new juicer, as they vary widely in how large their footprint is. If you absolutely don’t have the room for a bigger one, the Mueller Austria model is a nice selection.

If you do have the space, or are willing to make space, however, the Omega is hands-down our favorite. It may be large, but it’s very convenient and even comes with a nice carry handle for easy moving.

Frequency of Use

Are you planning on using your new masticating cold press juicer to make a bunch of juice in advance? This is what many people do, so they don’t have to go through the juicing process every morning.

However, you should know what not every model is designed to handle gallons worth of juicing in one sitting. The less expensive options tend to overheat when used for longer periods of time in one go, and luckily some have a safety feature which shuts the machine off if they get too hot.

So, if that’s something you want to be able to do, we recommend pushing your budget a bit higher and opting for an Omega or a Tribest GSE-5050.

In this case, you’ll want to look at both the length of the included warranty, and the materials the juicer is made out of. The models which come with the longest warranties are the Omega and the Tribest GSE-5050, which are for 15 and 12 years, respectively.

A company doesn’t want to have a longer warranty than they believe their product will last, as they will essentially lose money this way. So, think of this as a kind of testament to how long it should hold up, more or less.

In addition, look at the body of your new juicer. What’s it made out of? On cheaper models you’re going to see lower-quality plastics, where as on nicer ones, you’ll find ABS plastic and/or stainless steel which is obviously going to be durable.

Ease of Cleaning

Masticating cold press juicers are going to also vary in how easy they are to clean. As they can’t just be left out to dry, you have to clean them after each time you use it. Ideally, your juicer will allow water to run through it to help get hard-to-reach areas.

Many also come with a special brush to work away sticky leftovers. If you choose a pricier model, you’re more likely to receive a juicer with parts that disassemble quickly and can be simply placed in the dishwasher. No hand-washing necessary!

The models above range widely in price. You can find one for under just $100, and others for around $700. With that being said, how much money are you willing to spend on one? Keep in mind that as the price goes up, your user experience will improve, and you’ll typically (though not a rule) receive a longer warranty to go with it.

With less expensive models you’ll have to deal with some minor downsides such as hand-washing, smaller chutes, and perhaps more pulp (depending on the juicer). If that’s okay with you, then there are definitely some affordable options for you.

FAQs About Masticating Cold Press Juicers

Q: Why not just eat all the fruits and vegetables you’re juicing?

A: Are you really going to be able to eat all of that? Probably not..or at least you’re not going to have an easy time doing it. What juicing does is emulate the pre-digestion we go through, allowing nutrients to be absorbed more easily.

Q: How long will my juices from my masticating cold press juicer last?

A: Of course, this will depend on how oxidized the fruit was before, among other variables, but you can expect around 2 to 3 days. Just make sure they’re refrigerated at all times.

Q: Will each juicer have the ability to make butters and sauces?

A: No. Make sure if that’s a feature you’d like to have that you look to make sure it also works as a food processor. Otherwise, you’re going to have serious issues if you try putting nuts in there.

Q: My juice was a bit too pulpy, can I fix this?

A: Absolutely. First, try cutting your produce smaller, and feeding your juicer more slowly. Also make sure you’re refrigerating your produce prior to juicing, which also yields less pulpy juice.

Q: What is a masticating type juicer?

A: A masticating juicer uses what is called an “auger” the spins at a slow speed and crushes the fruits and vegetables removing all the juice. The juice then is strained through a filter so only the juice comes out the chute.

Q: Why is a masticating juicer better?

A: The reason a masticating juicer is better is because the slow speed of the auger doesn’t burn up the nutrients from the fruits and vegetables resulting in more nutritious juice.

Tips For Using Your Masticating Cold Press Juicer

#1: Run a lemon through your juicer.
This not only makes it smell good, but makes sure nothing gets stained – particularly the plastic parts. You can also utilize a new toothbrush to brush off leftovers if your model doesn’t come with one.

#2: Until you get a feel for how your juicer works, start out with smaller pieces.
Yes, it’s going to take you more time to prep your fruits and veggies, but it’s going to take you even longer if your machine ends up getting clogged or blocked. So, start out smaller, and work your way up to larger pieces until you have a better idea of what it can handle.

#3: It’s important to know how to cut the produce for best results.
Carrots are best cut lengthwise in half, celery stalks should be copped, and oranges taste better rind-free.

Final Thoughts

We know that was a lot to take in and hopefully you found a good masticating juicer. While all of the juicers above are some of the best on the market today, they vary widely, so it’s important to know what you’re looking for.
