You can choose between either the 70-pound or 100-pound model, depending on your needs and preferences.
In addition to the bag itself, you’ll receive a pair of tough heavy bag gloves and 108-inch hand wraps. These both work to keep your hands safe from the abrasion that the bag can give.
A bungee cord is there to provide even more resistance to the bag, if you need it.
Filled with a combination of both natural and synthetic fibers along with sifted sand, it is made to hold up for many years to come.
The chain is made to hold up well, too, while also letting you adjust it to the ideal height for practicing.
While you’ll receive everything you need to get started and improve your skills, the set is surprisingly budget friendly. If you’re looking to keep on a tight budget, then this is an excellent heavy bag kit for you.
All in all, we have nothing negative to say about the product, though it doesn’t come with as many extras as some competitor products do.

The Century Versys Fight Simulator is quite different to the last model in terms of both functionality and appearance.
Rather than hanging from a chain, it comes with a relatively small base which is filled with sand to keep it stable. This makes it much more easy to move it from room to room, but also makes installation practically non-existent.
This design makes it low impact when you’re coming at it with all of your strength through strikes and kicks.
This best free standing punching bag is great for beginners particularly but works well for all levels. Is it to improve your aerobic conditioning, endurance, speed, as well as various types of techniques.
The big striking surface and top handle combination are perfect for practicing knee strikes, while its natural rebounding properties keep your body protected, even during max force moves.
The combinations are essentially endless, letting you perform an entire range of strikes such as elbows, front kicks, round kicks, knees, etcetera.
The vinyl exterior shell not only looks cool with its black-and-red color scheme but works to keep things looking pristine. You can count on it holding up for many years of regular use, so don’t go easy on it!

Are you on the hunt for one of the best heavy bags on the market today, but don’t have a lot of room for one?
If you live in an apartment or other smaller spaces and require a more compact model, then the Everlast Single-Station Heavy Bag may be just the one for you.
This kit not only includes the bag, but also leather bag gloves with padded palm grip, 100% cotton hand wraps, and a heavy-duty bag stand.
The stand is composed of powder-coated steel tubing which is relatively easy to assemble if you’ve some experience with these kinds of things.
Even if you use it in your garage, you can feel confident knowing that it can resist the elements quite well.
The leather bag gloves feel wonderful to the touch, and even better when you’re striking the bag at full force.
These gloves do an excellent job at protecting your hands during the entirety of your training sessions, and the cotton hand wraps are perfectly breathable.
The bag at first glance has a very minimal, cool design – all-black with a yellow logo that gives it a classic boxing look.
The tough Nevatear heavy bag comes with reinforced webbing, too, to make sure that it holds up against anything you throw at it.
- Weight(s): 250 or 370 Pounds
- Size: 54” to 65” in height
- Fill Material: Sand or Water
- Stand Included: Base
If you want the best punching bag for home use, keep on reading, because the Everlast Power Core Bag will suit you just fine.
Also quite a bit different from the models we’ve covered thus far, it comes with an air-foam chamber and a high-density base.
The chamber works to give a realistic feel so advanced that it’s the best thing next to actual human partners! The high-density base can be filled up with either water or sand, depending on your preferences and availability.
Keep in mind that if you fill it with sand, it will be 120 pounds heavier. So, you get added stability, but less mobility.
With a base this sturdy, it’s much easier to strike and narrow in on your target which will help you improve your skills rapidly. You can even choose to adjust the height anywhere from 54 inches to 65 inches.
The Powercore power transfer ring not only looks kind of interesting, but works to absorb impact effectively while minimizing base movement and sliding.
Just keep in mind that this bag is specifically made for indoor use and should never be used outdoors!
No matter if you’re looking to improve your cardio endurance, leg conditioning, and/or hand-eye coordination, the Power Core Bag has you covered.
- Weight(s): 70 Pounds, 100 Pounds

The Everlast Dual Station Heavy Bag Stand Value Bundle is a fully comprehensive kit that features everything you need and more to get started on the right foot.
So, what exactly does it include? You’ll obviously get the large Nevatear Heavy Bag, in addition to hand wraps, leather bag gloves, the heavy bag stand, and the Everlast Leather Speed Bag!
Each has its own purpose, so let’s take a look at what they’re here for.
The Heavy Bag once again comes with reinforced webbing to take a beating and look pristine the entire time. The hand wraps are made up of 100% cotton to give you added comfort while remaining breathable.
The stand is powder-coated and is a great option if you want to use it outdoors or in your garage! Last but not least, the leather bag gloves not only look cool but feature padded palm grip for added stability.
The Everlast Leather Speed Bag is the best tool to use for improving your speed and coordination, while also remaining durable like its Heavy Bag brother.

Have you ever wondered what the best kickboxing bag is? We’re going to go ahead and say that it’s the Aqua Training Bag based off of our experience and countless others.
At first glance you can see that it’s very different from any other we’ve looked at, with its teardrop shape.
To give you a bit more personalization options, you can choose from Haymaker Black, Fireball Orange, Blood Red, Black Eye, and Bad Boy Blue.
Each one is sure to turn heads and catch your attention as you strike it! Don’t be fooled, however – it is made to stay strong even against the heaviest of hits!
As the name suggests, it is to be filled with water, but it doesn’t come filled to make shipping and mobility easier. It unfortunately doesn’t come with a hanging kit, but you can pick up a hanging chain for cheap on Amazon or Home Depot.
At 18 inches and 120 pounds, you can go all-out with an array of techniques like jabs, hooks, uppercuts, and whatever else your heart desires!
If you need to improve your combos, then we can’t recommend the Aqua more. From absolute newbie to seasoned pro, you’ll reap the benefits right away.
- Weight(s): 80 Pounds
- Fill Material: Natural and Synthetic Fibers

The best punching bag for beginners is undoubtedly the Everlast Omni Strike Heavy 80-pound bag.
Everlast is quite possibly the most well-known name in boxing, but this bag works well for MMA and kickboxing, too. Did we mention it’s also one of the best budget-friendly products on our guide?
This is shockingly inexpensive and is ideal if you’re just starting out and don’t want to invest a ton of money in the sports yet.
The Omni Strike doesn’t come with a stand, but rather tough nylon straps and rivets to provide security, while the double-end loop makes it even more functional for you.
To practice your knees, there are two Evergrip handles on each side of the bag to give you a secure grip on it. The Nevatear outer shell gives an extra layer of material to not only increase durability but to help better absorb impact!
The stand-out red section on the bottom third of the model is made up of C3 foam which also adds in another layer of impact absorption which is great if you’re just starting out.

How to Choose the Best Heavy Punching Bag – Buying Guide
Now that you’ve had the chance to read our reviews of punching bags, which one is the perfect product for you? If you’re still on-the-fence about your decision, that’s perfectly normal.
That’s why we’ve decided to take it upon ourselves to write up the following comprehensive buying guide. This guide will lead you through every step of the selection process so that by the time you’re done reading it, there will be no doubt which is the one for you!
As you can see from the previously mentioned products, there are quite a few variations of bags out there. So, which one is the one for you? Let’s take a look.
These are seen as the more “traditional” boxing bags, and are also the most durable, heavy-duty models out there. While they’re often hung from the ceiling to hold up to even more force, there are many which come with stands instead. If you don’t need the extra strength, then this is a much more convenient way of holding it up. If you rather hang it from a stand with a chain, swivel, or rope. We’d recommend these for kick boxing, MMA.
These not only look cool to us, but can rapidly improve your fast-paced punches. You have to have perfect timing for this bag to work, which means your endurance will also be improved upon. To strengthen your hands and shoulders, this is ideal. They’re filled with air and are much smaller than the last type. These are ideal for traditional boxing training.
These are not hung from a ceiling, nor have a stand. Like the name states, they’re completely free-standing and come mounted on a base. These bases are incredibly heavy and durable so you can move them anywhere you’d like but can rely on them to absorb your strikes. These are perfect for MMA, boxing, and kickboxing as well as if you can’t use the ceiling to hang a bag.
Traditionally speaking, punching bags come made with leather or even a man-made material like vinyl or plastic. Leather is the most common and well-respected as they’re so durable and comfortable, on top of being the most visually attractive! However, as you can imagine, they’re also the most expensive so you’ll need to think about your priorities.
Aside from price, there are other reasons why synthetic bags are so popular. Vinyl and nylon do better in humid environments or outdoors in general as they’re resistant to developing mold/mildew. There are also synthetic leather bags out there, but these seem to be much less durable.
Bag Fill Material
This is another crucial characteristic to take into consideration when making your selection. The fill is what ultimately determines how firm the bag is, how comfortable it is when you strike it, how much it weighs, and also the price.
In most situations, they’re going to come pre-filled, but with a couple on our guide you’ll need it to be filled. Here are the most common fillers:
Sand: This will give you the most weight possible with your bag and is easy to use as a filler. As opposed to water, it’s not going to make a huge mess if it ends up leaking. However, if you live in a humid environment or if the sand is exposed to any kind of moisture, it can easily change in firmness.
Water: Water-filled bags are usually one of the easiest, as most of us have it readily available. The best bags are much more safe and reliable than they used to be.
Air: Air is another incredibly easy filler to get and is ideal if you want a lighter weight. However, if you’re going to be using your bag frequently, you may notice it starts to deflate a bit so you’ll be required to refill a couple times a week or so.
How old are you (or the person you’re buying the bag for) and how big are they? Just like in real fights, you’ll need to be matched with a bag that works well with your individual size and weight. You’ll find bags starting a little over 2 feet and ending to over 6 feet.
As far as weight goes, you’ll typically find them to be around 100 pounds. Most models on our guide weigh in at 100, but there are many that weigh much less and much more. If you’re not sure or if more than one person is going to be using the bag, then it’s probably best to select one that allows you to adjust the weight.
A general guideline for choosing the proper weight of a heavy bag is to divide your weight in half. For example, if you weigh 140 pounds, then try to select a 70-pound model.
As you may have noticed, there are many models which come with valuable extras. Typical extras are workout DVDs. These are perfect if you don’t feel confident or experienced enough yet to build routines on your own.
They can also ensure that you’re changing up your training so you can cover all weak spots and really grow your skills quickly. Nutrition plans are another invaluable addition, because if you have the perfect training plan but aren’t feeding your body correctly, you’re not going to see the results you could.
You need something to mount your heavy bag to so you can use it. There are three methods for doing this:
Ceiling: Probably the most difficult method and you will need to find a stud in the ceiling to mount the hanging bracket to. Only for DYI people.
Stand: Here you will need a metal stand to hang the heavy bag to. Unfortunately it also takes up the most room and the most expensive.
Freestanding: As the name implies you don’t need a stand or need to hang it. The “stand” is built into the bottom of the bag. The heavy weight keeps the bag upright.
How much are you planning on spending on a good punching bag? If you’re not sure, now is a good time to figure it out – at least plan out a range that you feel comfortable spending in.
If not, you’re risking experiencing buyer’s remorse, which is what we don’t want. Whatever your budget may be, we feel confident that at least one of the aforementioned bags will suit you.
FAQs About Punching and Heavy Bags
Q: How high should I hang my new bag?
A: Your bag should be placed more or less like your opponent would be, so it should be high enough that you could realistically hit their “head”. Keep the top of the bag just a bit higher than the top of your head.
Q: My bag is beginning to soften at the top and get hard near the bottom. Is this normal and what should I do?
A: This is very normal and happens due to your strikes along with gravity causing the filling to settle on the bottom. The best way to go about fixing this is to buy a new outer cover and flip the bag.
Q: What about with my speed bag? How high should I hang it?
A: With speed bags, you’ll want to keep the bottom of the bag around the level of your chin. However, feel free to change it up a bit to your convenience.
Q: What should I do if the bladder in my speed bag breaks?
A: If this ends up happening, most of the manufacturers we have reviewed here will have a warranty. If you’re within that warranty, then they’ll gladly replace the bladder for you. If not, you can easily find a replacement on your own through Amazon or directly through the manufacturer.
Tips For Using a Heavy Bag
#1: If you’re planning on using the heavy bag and speed bag in one session, make sure to bring your gloves and hand wraps.
The hand wraps should be work to use on the speed bag, but you can also purchase those speed bag gloves with weighted palms to add more resistance. Also wear hand wraps when using the heavy bag, but wear your gloves over them.
#2: If you are having a hard time deciding between water or sand, try to opt for sand.
This is also a personal preference, but sand is going to weigh the base down better, and will not give you the potential mold issues that water can. Not only that, but if it leaks it’s not going to create a huge mess that water can.
#3: If you don’t have sand available to you, use cat litter!
We know it sounds a bit weird, but it’s actually an excellent alternative to sand as it moves smoothly, is clump-free, and very affordable.
Now that you’re practically an expert in good heavy bags, which one is the right one for you and your athletic needs? If you’re still undecided, remember that whichever one you purchase will be one of the top models available today.
However, what’s most important is that you select the one best suited towards you as an individual. We hope that our guide has helped you to do exactly that. Thanks for tuning in, and we’ll see you again soon!
