Women’s Nike Running Shoe Reviews

With neutral arch support, and a style that’s perfect for daily running on the road, it’s no wonder why the Lunar Skyelux is one of the best Nike running shoes of 2018.

It’s safe to say that this shoe was easily one of the most comfortable shoes we’ve ever worn in our lives. It may sound a bit dramatic, but it’s true.

The shoe is very lightweight, despite thick cushioning, and is very breathable due to engineered mesh, so your feet won’t feel suffocated.

In fact, this model hits almost the max cushioning category with its stack height and heel offset. The plush collar, tongue, and soft fabric all add to a luxurious experience, and won’t give blisters like so many others.

Despite this thick cushioning, it actually has quite a bit of traction and bounce, to help give you a more efficient experience. With the roomy interior, those with “normal” and slightly wider feet should be quite comfortable in these Nike shoes. However, it’s probably not best for those with very wide feet.

Nike Womens Lunar Skyelux Round Toe at a Glance:

  • Comes in 16 colors
  • Extremely comfortable
  • Great for daily running
  • Ideal for those with normal or slightly wider feet
  • Breathable, lightweight mesh upper

The Nike Air Zoom Structure 21 may not be as comfortable as the last item on our list, but it’s definitely up there. Recently, the model received very welcome upgrades, overall making it a much more light and comfy shoe.

It’s known for its responsiveness, perfect for dynamic runs, as well as generous cushioning, making for a great experience.

The upper is made of a very high-quality, relatively lightweight textile, and the sole is durable, and rubber. You’ll find Flywire cables (a total of 8 Flywires per shoe) that wrap the midfoot, to provide adequate support and keep your feet from jiggling all over the place.

In addition, a fitsole sockliner conforms to the shape of your foot. The heel is very reflexive, however, we did feel that the heel wasn’t as supportive, nor stabilized as we would’ve liked to see. In addition, the shoe is surprisingly stiff, which was probably our biggest complaint.

As far as the forefoot goes, though, we were very pleased. Specially-designed air pockets located in the forefoot helped to propel us forward during runs, and even added a bit of extra comfort.

The premium cushion ST foam really makes it one of the best stability-support Nike running shoes out there.

Nike Women’s Air Zoom Structure 21 at a Glance:

  • Available in 15 different color schemes
  • Great stabilizing shoe
  • Sockliner conforms to foot shape
  • Made with Cushlon ST foam
  • Forefoot airpockets help propel runner

Looking for a pair of some of the best running shoes of 2018? Look no further, than the Nike Flex Contact. They’re not only gorgeous, but fit true-to-size, are exceptionally comfortable, and provide great support.

The shoe comes in a whopping 41 different color schemes; all looking modern, trendy, and are perfect if you really want to make a statement.

No matter if you’re actually using them for running, or whether you’re planning on running around downtown, these are sure to turn some heads.

Featuring hot-knife cuts to the outsoles, you’ll feel a good amount of flexibility while you’re running. Despite being so soft and flexible, they’re actually quite sturdy, thanks to the rubber in high-wear zones, for traction over and over again. The soft foam midsoles will keep you comfortable, and give a good barrier between you and the road.

The tight mesh in the middle area of the foot also ensures you’re properly supported through every run, from start, to finish. Finally, a circular-knit pattern through the forefoot stretches for your toe splay, so you’re not confined to a tight area that’s just not healthy for your feet and body.

While this is definitely an amazing shoe, it doesn’t come without faults. Our two biggest, and really only, complaints were that the shoelaces were oddly short, making it a bit difficult to tie the shoes. Secondly, it was a bit tight for some of us in the top area of the foot.

Other than that, we can confidently say these are some of the best running shoes around.

NIKE Women’s Flex Contact at a Glance:

  • Come in 41 stunning color schemes
  • Very soft, comfortable, and cushioned
  • Very flexible and reactive
  • Circular-knit pattern through forefoot stretches for toe splay
  • True-to-size

The Revolution 3 is a reasonably-priced shoe, that isn’t necessarily the most showstopping out there in terms of looks, but is sturdy enough, and is built for neutral road running.

We’d recommend this for you if you’re a light runner who doesn’t need a ton of arch support, or are just getting a pair for casual wear.

First off, we should mention that we highly recommend going a half size up with this pair, as they seem to be a bit small. If you do get the correct size, we assure you they’re worth it!

They’re also among some of the most comfortable kicks we’ve tried, due to the breathable mesh upper keeping our feet nice and ventilated, along with the ample cushioning found in the heel. Not only that, but the snug fit of them isn’t too tight, but just tense enough that your feet are held perfectly in place.

We did feel that those with wider feet were better off with this model, but it does work well with any foot type. The reason we say that, is because the toe box is quite spacious, allowing for comfortable wear, even during running.

All in all, if you’re looking for a good running/casual shoe on a budget that looks and feels good, you have to check the Revolution 3 out.

NIKE Women’s Revolution 3 at a Glance:

  • Breathable mesh upper keeps feet dry
  • Great amount of heel cushioning
  • Works well with all foot widths
  • Perfect for both casual and running
  • Great budget price

The Air Zoom Pegasus 35 is a truly interesting shoe that really caught our surprise, both in looks and feel. Visually, it’s one of the most stunning we’ve found, not just among Nike products, but on the entire market.

Coming in almost 20 color schemes, you have quite a lot to choose from, too. No matter which color you choose, though, you can be positive that these are going to change your running game.

The sole of the Pegasus 35 is made from an interesting combination of foam and small airbags which give a good amount of extra cushion and spring. As a somewhat recent improvement, Nike decided to go ahead and contour the airbags so they fit the shape of your foot, from end to end.

The heel is specially-designed to bend away from the Achilles tendon, which actually alleviates a good amount of pressure runners often feel. The heel is beveled just a bit at the sole, so it both looks and feels speedy.

The upper is made from a special knit textile that makes colors look super vibrant, and the mesh is well-engineered and sturdy. The outsole is another highlight of these best training shoes. It’s traction-ready, and has a great grip capability, making you more dynamic and efficient.

So, what activities are they ideal for?

Running, of course, speed training, all the way up to half-marathons, should you desire. The only real “con” for us,  was that the collar isn’t as secure as just about any of the others on our list. All in all, it is a well-made, sturdy shoe that fits just about anyone or any situation well.

Nike Women’s Air Zoom Pegasus 35 at a Glance:

  • Comes in almost 20 color schemes
  • Specially-designed to relieve pressure from the Achilles tendon
  • Breathable, sturdy, supportive mesh upper
  • Reactive, traction-ready outsole with adequate grip
  • Features foam and small airbags for extra cushion and spring

Nike Women's Free RN Running Shoe

The Nike Free RN 2018 is a lightweight, minimalist shoe perfect for runs of short distances, and for those who are neutral pronators.

They fit true-to-size, and are neither too tight, nor too loose. While wearing the shoes, it does come pretty close to what running in bare feet feels like, but keep in mind, that this style isn’t for everyone.

One thing we weren’t prepared for, was the tread. It was honestly a bit odd-looking; kind of a bunch of nubs with random slits in them, to make for a type of honeycomb look.

Unfortunately, this means that you can only use this model on the road, treadmill, or perhaps sidewalks or some local trails. The underfoot platform is made of a foam core, that is quite responsive, and the foam insole also adds cushioning.

Despite being so minimalist, they’re surprisingly durable. No scrapes nor scratches to speak of, and the sole seemed to do well, too. T

he upper is made of spandex, which sounds a bit odd, but it does create a perfect junction of snugness and breathability. The “wrap” inside adds additional stability and comfort – surprisingly more than we saw with most competitor shoes.

Nike Women’s Free RN at a Glance:

  • Barefoot running experience
  • Very stable and comfortable
  • Surprisingly durable design
  • Fits true-to-size
  • Very responsive

The Nike Tanjun Racer is a unique-looking, low-top sneaker that gives off the vibes of simplicity, while still adding some comfort and trendiness into the mix. It is, in our opinion, ideal for streetwear, but should you use it for actual running, it won’t fail you.

The breathable mesh upper is not only comfortable and airy, but it also helps to give the best fit possible, while providing you with a bit of extra support.

The color options aren’t as vast as some of the others on our guide, but are still adequate, and you’re sure to find something that matches the outfit you have in mind.

The shoe is very lightweight, as you’d probably imagine from the mesh upper. You’ll also love the lightly padded collar and tongue, which helps prevent chafing around the ankle.

There is a tiny bit of arch support, which doesn’t seem like much at first, but if you have “flat fleet” you’re going to be a fan right away. The comfort footbed insole only adds to the comfort, and will have you walking or running miles in these, with no problem.

NIKE Women’s Tanjun at a Glance:

  • Lightweight and comfortable design
  • Great for those who need a bit of arch support
  • Relatively inexpensive
  • Very stylish and trendy
  • Great for casual or athletic wear

How to Choose the Best Women’s Nike Running Shoes – Buyers Guide

best womens nike running shoes

Whether you’re just starting out in the running world, or you’re a seasoned pro, having the best pair of running shoes is crucial to doing the best you possibly can.

The problem is, that it can be confusing trying to find the best ones for you. We all have different feet, different bodies, and different needs when it comes to running.

That’s why we’ve gone ahead and created this buying guide, to take you step-by-step through each aspect you should consider when purchasing the best Nike women’s running shoes for you!

Price

While we feel that a good running shoe’s cost shouldn’t matter, the truth is, that we base most of our purchases mainly on the price. Think about how much you’re willing to spend, and don’t go past that budget, so as to make sure you won’t encounter any buyer’s remorse. The chances are very slim, of course, but it’s just better this way.

Minimalist vs. Regular Running Shoes

This is a highly debated topic among runners, and we could personally go into it for ours, but we’re just going to cover what you need to know. As you probably already know, we started with heavily-cushioned running shoes back in the 70’s.

The idea was that because running is so “harsh” on the joints, the cushioning was needed to reduce that impact. From there, we saw cushioned shoes, and stability shoes. Cushioning shoes are ideal for those with high arches or underpronation problems, while stability shoes are great for those with low arches or who overpronate.

In recent years, the minimalist/barefoot running style has become prominent, with the mindset that we should be running as close to barefoot as possible, while our bodies naturally get stronger. So which one is correct? There’s not a definitive answer to that, right now. Choose which one makes you feel good.

Sole

Think about how tough the sole is. You don’t want it falling apart within a few months of having them, do you? Rubber soles are the best way to go, as they’re very durable, and minimize the chance of you slipping and sliding on any surface.

Remember, though, that running on paved surfaces is going to wear them down quicker than on gym equipment. Aside from durability, make sure they’re nice and flexible, so they move with your feet, not against them.

Size and Fit

This is obviously a pretty important part of any running gear, but especially ones that separate you from the ground!

We generally recommend going ½ a size up from what you’d regularly wear, due to the fact that running causes more toe splay oftentimes, and can even swell feet a bit due to the blood flow. You’ll also want to make sure that your feet are nice and secure within your shoe.

Having loose shoes can increase the risk of injury, be uncomfortable, and not allow you to perform at your very best. It should definitely fit snugly, but not tightly. This means no pain or digging into your feet or ankles.

This kind of goes hand-in-hand with our last points, but make sure your shoes are nice and comfortable so you’ll actually want to put them on.

You don’t want to feel like you’re literally running barefoot on the hard ground, do you? A good cushioned midsole and heel will go a long way here. A lightweight, breathable mesh upper is also a nice feature to have.
