P90X Workout Review
As you advance through the Power 90 Extreme Workout Program , you will be amazed at the increase in your stamina, strength and endurance.
At the end of this life-changing program, you will be ready for swimsuit season and craving to start your next P90X adventure.
One of the top trainers in the health industry, Tony Horton teamed up with renowned fitness company Beach body, to create the infamous, P90X.
Horton was determined to create an effective system that allowed individuals at various physical fitness levels to reach advanced fitness goals in the comfort of their home.
Since then, the Beachbody Workout Company has gained a hefty following of avid believers in Tony’s system, and he is still changing lives with P90X, P90X2, and P90X3.
Many people, admittedly, are not in the best shape of their lives. You may have had a time where working out was a daily thing—but life got in the way and the next thing you knew—you became “not so fit”.
P90X has several levels in which you can start or advance through.
It is specifically tailored to those of you that are cautious about starting such an intense fitness program. Do not let the name fool you; it is extreme, but only to the safest of measures. To ensure your safety, the creators of the program have even included a fitness test that should be taken at the very beginning.
This test simply has you to complete a series of movements and light exercises to see if you physically meet the recommended fitness standards. The fitness test is helpful for the “not so beginner”, as it allows you to start at a higher level.
This test includes, but is not limited to, toe touches, modified push-ups, vertical jumps, and jumping jacks. This is designed to ensure your safety as a beginner, so you do not sustain any injuries from starting the full program before you meet the minimum fitness requirements.
With the beginner setting, you will definitely work up a sweat, but just at a more tapered pace than the normal paced program. If you do not initially pass the fitness test, you can begin training for P90X by practicing the exercises in the fitness test.
It would also be helpful to engage in some basic cardiovascular workout, such as a daily walking routine, to prepare your body to get moving.
If you are reasonably fit or you just want to take your workout to the next level—P90X is an experience, like none other. Eventually, everyone committed to a regular fitness routine hits that stage in their fitness journey, where no progress is being made—the plateau.
No matter how many reps you add on to your routine workout or how much more time you spend in the gym, you just get stuck. Though Tony Horton coined the phrase “Muscle Confusion“, this concept is nothing new is the fitness industry.
In a normal workout routine, the body gets accustomed to the routine and reaches a point of ‘boredom’. In order to prevent that boredom, P90X attempts to surprise the muscles by constantly changing things up in the workout.
Every day, new exercises are thrown at you within different levels of intensity, which “shocks” your muscles, at each work out.
Your body is never able to fully adapt to the exercises, which means the dreaded ‘plateau’ stage is a thing of the past. P90X allows you to reach and even surpass your body goals in just 90 days by doing simple things that truly make a difference.
If just the thought of exercising is exhausting for you, you will appreciate that Horton keeps things fun and entertaining for you. He is able to keep your mind off the pain and on the game. Little things like that, as silly as they may seem, make the top of the “Things I Loved about P90X” list for most reviewers.
One of the best features with this program is that you can work on creating your dream body and ultimate level of fitness, while never leaving your home. All you need is a six by six unobstructed area.
A good rule of thumb is to go to the center of the room and take six steps in each direction and that will give you a good idea of the amount of space you will need to work out in. Working out at home is especially beneficial for the many people that may not feel comfortable enough with their bodies yet, to be physically working out in public.
Unfortunately, the fear of working out in front of others deters many people from starting an exercise program. The 90-day program takes a modest commitment of one hour per day, six days per week. Not everyone has two or three hours each day to commit to working out. That is why P90X gives you the flexibility of a 60-minute workout at a time that is convenient for you.
You may feel pressured to beef up your fitness wardrobe when working out at the gym. P90X eliminates your need for a fitness shopping spree. In the comfort of your home, you can wear, sweatpants, a t-shirt, shorts, long-sleeves, leggings—or whatever you feel comfortable wearing.
P90X Workout Accessories:
- Resistance Bands
- Stability Ball
- Pair of 5 lb weights
The only outside purchase that you should consider making is a set of resistance bands, a stability ball, and a pair of 5lb weights, in order to get the most out of the program. The “deluxe” and “ultimate” kits come with all the necessary accessories.
Now that you have the general idea of how P90x works and what you may need for it, here are a few variations of the intense program for people of all different levels:
P90X Ultimate Kit Review
This is your go to for everything in one. Everything from both the base kit, and deluxe kit is in this plan. In the Ultimate Kit you also get five additional advanced P90X plus workouts, a 30-day supply of P90X recovery formula, the chin up max bar, and 12 muscle-carving workouts that will get you ripped.
This kit is primarily based on strength and endurance training, which is built up slowly during the previous P90X kits. However, in this kit, Tom Horton really puts your muscles to the test.
He takes you through a number of exercises that build your muscle simply by using your bodyweight in challenging ways.
This kit is surely not for the light hearted, so keep that in mind before purchasing. This kit is truly the workhorse of the group and will have you ripped in just 60 days.
Tom Horton even goes as far as including yoga and martial arts training in this kit, so you definitely get the maximum amount of work, crunched into 60 minutes every day.
With Tom Horton, you can count on those 60 minutes being the hardest and longest ones anyone could endure in the fitness world.
P90X2 the Next P90X DVD Ultimate Kit Review
The workout is the perfect option for you overachievers out there that decided P90X wasn’t enough and you needed a step up. Well, P90X2 offers just that.

This really is a step up from P90X and this new equipment gives you more versatility with the new workouts offered in P90X2. If you finished P90X and decided you needed even more, this would definitely be the choice for you.
P90X3 Base Kit Review
This is the beginning of the shorter, faster and better P90X! The base kit comes with: 16 extreme 30-minute workouts, a Fitness Guide, a Nutrition Plan, a Workout Calendar, a “How to Accelerate” DVD, and 24/7 Online Support.
Tony Horton uses his Muscle Acceleration system to maximize the amount of work you put in in 30 minutes.
This option is the “express shipping” choice for those of you that want your results as soon as possible. Keep in mind, you definitely don’t get a break by choosing this option whatsoever, you simply get your results faster.
P90X3 Deluxe Kit Review
This is the step up from the base kit. The Deluxe kit are for those of you that are some-what intermediate in your fitness level.
This program includes the same 16 minute extreme workouts with three Elite workouts to burn even more fat and work those muscles even harder.
You get everything in the Base Kit plus an Elite block calendar, a week’s supply of Energy & Endurance pre workout formula, and professional grade resistance bands.
This workout is for those of you that want to get the most out of the thirty minutes P90X3 has to offer, without going completely into the elite level.
P90X is truly the way to go when you are looking for results that can come from working out at home, that only take 30-60 minutes out of your day, and with workouts that are tailored to your level of fitness.
If you are still on the fence about starting this program, consider the health benefits. Thirty minutes of moderate exercise every day, reduces your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Not only that, but exercise releases endorphins in your brain after exercise and intense physical activity.
These natural “feel good” drugs, known as the runner’s high, keep you wanting more of the fitness routine. Meaning, when you push yourself and your body to work harder, you not only get healthier, but you feel good too. P90X is the way to go to get to your dream body, all you have to do is start!
